MANDO’S MISSION
Statement of Faith
“Mando’s Mission exists to share the love of God with the people of Honduras, working alongside them to achieve their daily needs, inspiring and enabling them to partner with us in sharing the love of God throughout Honduras.”
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring the good news…” Isaiah 52:7
- HOLY TRINITY
We believe in the one living and true God, both holy and loving, who is eternal and unlimited in power, wisdom and goodness, the Creator and Preserver of all things. Within this unity there are three persons of one essential nature – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:26; 3:22, 11;7; Luke 3:21,22
- AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE
We believe the 66 books of the Old & New Testaments constitute the Holy Scriptures. They are the inspired and infallibly written Word of God, fully inerrant in their original manuscripts of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic and superior to all human authority. They have been transmitted to the present without corruption of any essential doctrine. We believe that they contain all things necessary to salvation and serve as the final authority and the standard for faith and practice; and are sufficient for counsel in every issue of life. (We use Spanish KJV Bibles in our work with the Hondurans graciously provided by the Gideons) Psalm 119:97-104; I Peter 1:23-25; II Timothy 3:16
- SALVATION
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, truly God and truly man. We believe that Christ’s offering of Himself, once and for all, through His sufferings, death on the cross and glorious resurrection, provides the perfect redemption and atonement for the sins of the whole world. There is no other ground of salvation from sin but that alone. We must turn to God, deeply sorry for our sin, confessing our need and trust Him by faith for salvation. Saving faith is expressed in a public acknowledgment of His Lordship and an identification with His Church. John 3:3; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; I John 1:9, Acts 3:19, John 3:16; John 1:12, Rev.3:20
- THE CHURCH
Scripture is very clear that as believers, we are designed by God to be a part of His local body on earth. God calls His people to live in community! As followers of Jesus we are now in a covenant relationship with Christ and also other brothers and sisters in Christ. He calls us to a life of sacrifice, generosity, service and radical commitment for the good of the body. This joyous responsibility and privilege is best pursued within the context of a particular local church.
Luke 22:20; Acts 2:41-47
- THE SACRAMENTS
We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the sacraments of the church commanded by Christ and ordained as a means of grace when received through faith. They become part of our profession of faith, and it is through them that He works to strengthen, confirm and encourage us.
Water Baptism is one of the believer’s first acts of obedience after salvation. It is a symbol of the new covenant of grace and signifies to the church and your community your public acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior.
Matthew 3:13-17; 28:19,20; Acts 2:38,39
The Lord’s Supper is a sacrament of our redemption made possible through Christ’s death and of our hope in His victorious return. It is also a beautiful sign of the love that Christians have for each other. To receive it humbly by faith, the Lord’s Supper is a means through which God communicates grace to the heart.
Matthew 26:26-28; I Corinthians 11:23-29
- SANCTIFICATION
We believe that sanctification is that work of the Holy Spirit by which the child of God is enabled to love God with all the heart and walk more closely with Him. Following salvation, there is a gradual, progressive sanctification that takes place as the believer moves toward a moment of total, complete heart surrender. This is followed by lifelong growth in grace as the believer uses the gifts of the Spirit with which they have been blessed.
Deuteronomy 30:6; Isaiah 6:1-6; John 17:1-26; Ephesians 4:13,24; I John 4:17,18; Jude 24
- SECONG COMING OF CHRIST
We believe in, and expectantly await the glorious, visible, and personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The hope of His return has vital bearing on the personal life, service and mission of the believer. It inspires holy living and a passion for sharing Him with the world. At His return He will fulfill all prophecies made concerning His final and complete triumph over evil!
I Thessalonians 4:13-18
