MANDO’S MISSION CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS IN HONDURAS

Early Days
It is hard to believe but it has now been five years since Dr. Ed Reedy and I took an exploratory trip to
Honduras with Armando Perez (Mando) to see how we may possibly partner with him to serve the
people of Honduras. During that trip we saw Mando’s love for the people and their admiration for him.
He had a great desire to share Christ with them and to help meet their physical needs.
On that first trip we visited a remote mountain village, traveling the roughest roads we had ever seen.
After reaching a clearing we pulled our truck over into a beautiful grassy meadow. Very shortly several
women and children started appearing, from where we didn’t know. Dr. Reedy must have seen 50
individuals that afternoon and we distributed vitamins and other meds that we take for granted but are
generally unavailable to them. Mando had been serving this village because of the need he knew was
there, and that they received very little help from anyone else. The 65-mile trip took us 4 1/2 hours, a
journey that Mando had been making by means of hitch hiking, motorbikes, beds of dump trucks, or
mules…however he could make it.
That exploratory trip was in November 2018. In February of 2019, we took our first group, nine men to
serve the people of Honduras with Mando. That was the first of three groups in 2019. Due to Covid, no
more trips were taken until November of 2021. Through November 2023, we have now taken eight
groups and seen God’s blessings and working in people’s lives each time. Those groups included 173
team members and 98 different individuals!

Formation of “Mando’s Mission”
After receiving great support and encouragement from many individuals and Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church,
we decided to form a 501c3 non-profit. Again, with the aid of many individuals Mando’s Mission was
established in late 2021. That has now been two years and great strides have been made and every trip
provides valuable learning experiences. But we realize everyday that there are many things that need to
be done and ask you for your prayers as we identify them. We often recognize needs, but must find the
resources, individuals to help us perform them and the time to get them done!

Local Support-Relationships
Over the previous five years we have gained tremendous support of the people and local leaders in
Honduras. From our first trip in 2019, we had security provided, locals that work tirelessly with Mando
before and after we arrive and leave, were joined by a local doctor, and dentist. Since then, other local
doctors have joined our group as well as two other dentists. In addition to this, a municipal leader has
hosted each team for a meal. Local businesses that provide hotel accommodations and transportation
have been very supportive. All these individuals have been fantastic partners and of great
encouragement to Mando’s Mission. Many of our team members stay in communication with them
throughout the year. Each trip that we take we are very excited to see our brothers and sisters! We
could not have accomplished nearly what we have without their friendships and partnership.

Next Steps
Mando’s Mission’s motto, “Sharing Christ by Serving Others”, has been our focus and God has blessed
that by meeting medical and physical needs of those we have served. More importantly, through the
hundreds of salvations we have seen, lives are changed for eternity.

BUT what next? Within the next few weeks, we will be sharing some of our visions for the future and
expanding on the programs that we have already initiated. One thing that we have prayed as a Mando’s
Mission board is that we “not limit what God wants to do by our lack of faith and vision”.
Would you please pray for us in the following areas?
Would you please pray for:
-The leadership of Mando’s Mission as decisions are made and plans formulated?
-Expansion of our network of partners? To fully develop our current programs and establish more, we
need true partners who support us prayerfully and financially. As you consider this request, please
share about Mando’s Mission with your friends and churches. They can also find out more by visiting
Home – Mando's Mission (mandosmission.org). If your church or group would like to have a
presentation from Mando’s Mission to learn how they may become partners, please let us know and we
will be glad to arrange it.
We are thankful for everyone who has played a part in bringing our ministry to where we currently are
but realize that we are still in an infancy stage. We praise God for His faithfulness and allowing us to see
many people come to Christ through Mando’s Mission and our short-term mission groups. We look
forward in anticipation of what God has in store for the future! Please continue to pray with us for
wisdom as we move forward.
